We fly West and around the control zone for Birmingham, then head NW towards and over the little airfield of Welshpool, which will also be our diversion airfield should the weather prevent us flying over the Snowdonia Hills and Mountains. We then let down over Caernarfon Bay and enter the circuit for Caernarfon airfield, traveling along the Menai Strait as we enter downwind leg for runway 25. There is a fabulous Cafe where a full cooked lunch can be had or the usual snacks etc and hot and cold drinks. If you are lucky you may also see movements from the mountain and sea rescue service helicopter while sipping on your tea. After lunch we depart for our route back to Turweston. First we will climb out to 3000' and head for a look over the summit of Snowdon and the beautiful valleys, flying on to overfly Bala and Vyrnwy lakes on our route back.
